To check the progress of your passport you need a barcode number. You will find the barcode which is a ten-digit number on the front page of the application form.

If you applied in person or used the Check & Send service you will find the the barcode number on your receipt, this is what you need to quote (not the barcode on the application form).
So it is important to make a note your barcode number before posting it the Passport Office

You can also call the Passport Adviceline on 0300 222 0000. You will need to quote your application barcode number or the number on your receipt from the Post Office.

You will need to wait about two weeks from the date you sent your application before following up your passport application.
